Description

When your "Check Engine" light comes on, you plug this into the car's OBDII port—usually located under the dashboard on the driver’s side—to find out what is wrong. What it does: -Reads Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs): It gives you a shorthand code (like P0300) that identifies the specific system or component that is malfunctioning. -Clears Codes: Once a repair is made, you can use this to turn off the "Check Engine" light. -Displays Status: It can check if your vehicle is ready for an emissions test (smog check). -Retrieves VIN: It can pull the Vehicle Identification Number directly from the computer. How to use it: -Locate the Port: It's a 16-pin trapezoidal plug under the dash. -Plug it in: The tool usually powers up automatically using the car's battery once connected. -Turn Ignition to "On": You don't usually need to start the engine, just turn the key to the "On/Run" position. -Read: Use the "Scroll" and "Enter" buttons to navigate the menu and read any stored codes.
