It has no affect on video transmission. It will help prevent any power surge damage to the SDI port of the camera hasn’t been set up properly or if power is suddenly lost. RULE OF SDI * To prevent the SDI port from blowing out. Only connect the SDI cable to the devices once the camera is already powered up. * Then remove the SDI before powering down. * The SDI cable should never be connected to a device when Turing the KOMODO on or off! * The surge protector doesn’t allow you to bypass this rule, like a fuse in a plug, it’s there to help you if it’s needed, it may become defective if the SDI rule is ignored on multiple occasions. 💪🏻GOOD TO KNOW! My cameras builds will usually come as fully set up and possible. This relieves stress and prevents error on set and helps eliminate damage in transit. You also receive kit in premium bags or cases. The Komodo isn’t available with a RED DC power supply. Providing AC power will largely increase the chances of the SDI port blowing of the SDI rule is ignored. The battery has an inferior chance of doing so. However I do provide enough batteries that can continuously circulate between powering and charging. Using a battery also removes the risk of someone tripping over the AC cable and damaging the power port on the Komodo.
