The guitar that catapulted Gretsch sales into the stratosphere when George Harrison played one on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1964. The Gretsch 6122 Chet Atkins Country Gentleman, The top-drawer signature model, designed by Atkins with Gretsch, launched in 1957. This one looks the part - all that gold hardware, the imperial tuners, the "Country Gentleman" headstock plaque, those unique half-moon fretboard inlays, the Bigsby B6G, smooth as they come, each knob imprinted with the G-arrow logo, and that lovely walnut finish. And then there's how it plays and sounds - perfect action and intonation from zero fret to rocking bar bridge, the contrast between the neck Super'Tron and bridge Filter'Tron pick-ups, and the three-way tone switch in place of tone pots. A proper, versatile vintage hollow-body. In great condition for its age, Yes, it has its nicks and dents, but they're surprisingly few for a guitar this old. If you've ever wanted to get closer to mid-period Beatles, this is the one for you. Happy to include a support pack at no extra cost, with: - Hercules Mini Stand - Strap - Clip-on Tuner - Cleaning Cloth - Complimentary Plectrums. Happy to meet personally in London to hand over. And if this isn't the one for you, check out my other guitar, amp and pedal listings!
