Description
The SIGMA series was one of the first phantom‑powered ribbon microphones in the world, produced by UK manufacturer Sontronics, offering the warm, smooth sonic character of a classic ribbon mic while operating like a modern active microphone. Sonically, the microphone is described as “intimate, natural reproduction … beautifully suited to vocals, solo wind and string instruments” and providing “smooth, warm sound” typical of ribbon mics. It’s especially suited for sources where you want richness and subtle detail rather than a harsh top end: e.g., vocals, acoustic instruments, string and wind solos. Users praise it for its “true picture” and “warm, well‑rounded response”. Key Features: Polar Pattern: Figure‑of‑eight (bi‑directional) — picks up sound from the front and rear, rejects the sides. Frequency Response: Approx. 20 Hz to 15 kHz.  Sensitivity / Output: Around 18 mV/Pa (–33 dB ±1.5 dB) Impedance: ≤150 Ω.
