As an ultra-compact and portable field recorder, the F2 can handle both soft and harsh sounds due to its 32-bit float technology. Forget distressing distortion, you can now maintain low-noise performance without the hassle of adjusting gain. The F2 has a Hold switch to keep it recording even if it is accidentally interrupted - tailor-made for belt-mount and pocket-friendly placement. This is where it differs from other F-Series recorders (F4, F6, and F8n), as well as having a reliable lavalier microphone that has been optimised for discreet, high-quality vocal recordings. Simply hit record and away you go - capturing clear, crisp dialogue with ease. You have the option to choose from two high-quality recording resolutions with the F2. These include 32-bit / 44.1 kHz or 32-bit / 48 kHz, both in mono uncompressed BWF (Broadcast Wave File) formats. Audio quality is also sustained as there is no data compression when you create audio files. Be sure to make use of the onboard 80 Hz low-cut filter to reduce rumble and bass buildup. Hard-Wearing Hardware With the 3.5mm mini-jack input supplying 2.5V plug-in power, you are given free rein to use common condenser mics (lavaliers, headsets and earsets) with the Zoom F2. Alongside this is the versatile 3.5mm stereo output jack with volume up/down buttons for efficient routing to your camera, DSLR, secondary recorder or monitoring headphones. The F2 is ideal for on-location shooting as it is powered by either two AAA alkaline, Lithium, or NiMH rechargeable batteries. You also have the option of purchasing either the Zoom AD-17 power adaptor or a USB Type-C battery pack, however, AAA batteries will keep the F2 running for a good 15 hours. It's also incredibly portable, easily hidden away on someone's belt, waistband, or slipped into a pocket to conceal the recorder when necessary. Reliably Intuitive The F2 has a selection of intuitive one-touch buttons (record, play, stop, volume up/down) to ensure a fast and efficient workflow. LEDs to indicate audio levels, battery life and power have been included to make reading the F2 incredibly easy - minimising the chance of mishaps on-location. The F2 is also equipped with an accurate internal clock (±3ppm) to avoid issues when syncing audio and video, as well as a Hold function to prevent interruptions when recording. Free Editing Software And File Transfer You are given a free download license for Steinberg's WaveLab Cast software with the F2, providing a range of editing, mixing and refinement tools. For podcasting, WaveLab Cast connects to directories such as Spreaker and Podbean. For Audio for Video, this software will auto-extract your audio, using the tools to change levels, extract unwanted sound and remove loud sibilants. You can also build new tracks, fade-in your music, and use EQ and compression. Re-attach the audio to the video file using WaveLab Cast's export functions. The F2 Editor allows you to further format SD cards and adjust settings accordingly via your Mac or Windows computer. Do this by connecting your Zoom field recorder via a USB cable, utilising the F2's USB Type-C port - further enables efficient file transfers to your computer.
