The cover can be used while the monitor is mounted to a camera or camera rig. It has a fold-out anti-glare visor that improves screen visibility when filming outdoors or on bright sets. Aside of recorder, the Q7 is impressive as a stand-alone monitor: it's sharp, vivid and bright with deep, pure blacks and bright whites delivering a 3400:1 contrast ratio. The colors are very accurate, and the 1280 x 800 resolution is more than plenty to deliver sharp images. One of the best features of the screen is its wide 176-degree viewing angle, letting you view the monitor from just about any angle without worrying about color or contrast shifts. It also has advanced image analysis tools such as Waveform, Histogram, False Colour mode, a great 3-way Focus Assist and a Pixel Zoom with finger drag. The Odyssey7Q also features Monitoring LUT correction for all of the popular cameras with Log video output. The unit is very thin and lightweight (around 0.5 kg). RECORDING: It has the RAW Bundle licence active on the device so it can record RAW (full 12 bit) from Sony, Canon, ARRI etc. cameras along with ProRes 4K, UHD, 2K and HD in the HQ, LQ and 422 options. Summing up: 4K recording: 4K and RAW Recording Apple ProRes 4K/UHD in up to 60p HD recording: - in ProRes: 2K/HD in up to 240p (HQ, 422 & LT) - in Avid DNxHD: recording at both 145 and 220Mbps data-rates for common HD formats (1080i50/60, 720p50/60, 1080p25/30, 1080p50/60 video)
