The Shure MV7 Podcast Microphone is a USB/cardioid hybrid microphone that can be used for digital or analog recording and a simplified, digital alternative to the popular Shure SM7B. The Shure MV7 is a reimagined, digital alternative to the SM7B, aimed to simplify audio setups for podcasts and other online audio streaming applications. The MV7 plugs directly into a computer over USB, negating the need for an external audio interface but can also output over XLR for more traditional, professional recordings. Focused on Vocals. Even more so than the iconic SM7B, the MV7 has been dialed-in and optimized for vocal work with an emphasis on midrange frequencies, where the clarity and intelligibility of speech lives. Shure’s unique pick-up pattern and shock mount isolates your voice while preventing ambient sounds like room tone or handling noise and the on-board headphone jack provides real time monitoring with zero latency. Accessible Audio Settings. The capsule’s built-in touch panel allows you to adjust gain, headphone volume, and your monitor mix directly from the mic. For more advanced audio controls, you can configure the MV7 through the ShurePlus Desktop companion app for Mac or PC. In the app, you can change the EQ mode, toggle the limiter on and off, and select the best compression for your recording. If custom settings sounds like too much work, you can also enable auto mode and let the app choose your settings for you. Rugged Capsule. Like the SM7B before it, the MV7 is housed in an all-metal construction, but with a slightly smaller and lighter form factor, making it an easy choice for streaming remotely. The attached yoke has a standard 5/8" threaded inset for mounting to mic stands but we also include a 3/8"-16 reducer for broader compatibility with boom arms and light stands.
