Description
The HVR-MRC1K turns your older (tape) camera into a tapeless recording kit, offering you speed and convenience (transferring a DV tape vs a CF card, plus a backup if you choose dual recording mode). I have used it with Canon XH-A1 and Sony HVR-Z1, and it works just perfect. It should work with any camera that has a firewire port. The recorder captures the HDV, DVCAM, or DV stream output from the camcorder to a standard CompactFlash solid-state memory card, and it can simultaneously record to tape - if you want a back up. It is extremely compact and lightweight and can be attached to the accessory shoe of the camcorder. Reliable, easy to use, and CF media is rugged in every way HDV tapes are weak. I only used it with Windows and I heard it won't mount on a Mac, unless using FCP with plug in. Two 16-GB CF cards are included in the rental, each will record about 70 minutes of footage. Also included is a standard battery (NP-F570, lasts around 2 hours) and a charger.
